One of the biggest issues I see with our marketing team and my mentees (and honestly myself as well), is this odd voice in our minds telling us to “be professional”. As we try to attract people to our businesses or way of thinking, we are boring them to TEARS!
If you aren’t upsetting someone, then you are doing it wrong. Some people might not like your voice, the words you use, the color of your hair, but this is a good thing! If you have enough of an audience that people donâ€™t like you, then you have an audience!
One of my favorite tool are teachers. If you know a teacher, let them take a look at your content. You wouldn’t believe the sterile, lame, yawn inspiring drivel that they are forced to read every day. All with the same theme!
Imagine you were bombarded by hundreds of bits of information every day (we all are, aren’t we?!). Ask yourself, does what you just wrote stand out? Does it have a unique voice? Does it POP?
